Hi all!
It's been a long time since we updated "As We Travel" but we haven't been sitting still. We've had plenty of adventures, both with and without the RV.
There have been a number of changes for us starting with the loss of "Max the Travel Cat". Max traveled many miles in the RV including our 4 month trip to Alaska. Unfortunately his age caught up with him and he left us about a year ago. We miss Max, but we no longer require a room just for him so we were able to upgrade from a TT to a Jayco Greyhawk Class C Motorhome.
The new rig and our impending 6 month trip to the southwest is the impetus for a new "As We Travel" post
This is our new Jayco Greyhawk 29MV, 32' long with two slides.
I no longer needed my Radiant Red Toyota Tundra for towing so I traded it for a '14 Honda CRV with 19K miles. Why a '14 you ask? 2014 is the last year you can "flat tow" (4 wheels on the ground) a CRV. After '14 Honda changed the transmission and subsequent years must be trailered.
My new (generic silver 😑) CRV.
The CRV hooked up behind the "Hawk".
The cockpit from the living room. A few people have asked if the seats swivel. They don't, because there's a 6" step down into the cockpit.
The above cab bunk, for us it's storage, with a 32" LED TV to the right. The TV is on a powered arm that swings out for viewing. The center section of the bunk is up for easy access to the cab.(Truth be told, Lynda and I are short enough that we can get into the cab with the center section in the sleeping position)
The Living Room has a really comfortable convertable sofa and dinette. The windows are huge giving us great views and let in a lot of light.
One of the big selling points to this unit is the amount of counter space including a pull out section of counter with drawers. It also has a double bowl sink, Corian countertops, 3 burner gas stove, oven and a good sized microwave.
The Hawk came with an upgraded 12 cu.ft. French door refrigerator and freezer. We won't need to buy beer....uhh, shop for months. Behind the fridge is the hall to the bedroom and the shower.
The shower is almost as big as the one at home! We also have a on demand water heater so the second person to shower (me) doesn't get a cold rinse. Ahhh!
Across the hall is the bathroom with a good sized sink, two drawer, two door vanity and an extra large medicine cabinet. The bathroom also has a window. Something we didn't have in the trailer.
Another selling point for this rig was the nice queen size bed on its own slide
We also love the 6 drawers and the huge mirrored wardrobe. There's also a TV IN THE BEDROOM! Something we don't have at home.
Last but not least, I had 2 - 100 watt solar panels added so the battery will stay charged while dry camping in the Souhwestern sun.😄
